Tomatoe Rasam
Tomato and Dal Rasam (Soup) appitizer
Ingredients
2 Cups Split Peas
1 pint Organic Tomatoes
Seasoning
1 tsp mustard seeds
¼ tsp asafetida
5 Red Dry chilies
10 Curry Leaves
1 tsp Turmeric
1tbs Cummin Seeds
½ tsp Black pepper Whole
1 tabs Brown Sugar
1Tbs saflor oil
1tbs Butter
½ bunch chopped coriander
Cook and save the stock of split peas and tomatoes separately
Method of preparation
In a deep pot heat the oil and butter together and add the mustard seeds. After it crackles add the red chilies and curry leaves and the powdered Jirra , pepper, turmeric, and asafetida. Lastly add the stock of dhal and tomatoes. Bring to boil. Season with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or as a hot drink appetizer.
